First it mixes comics and baseball...awesome. Then I like how it's Jeter whose back is being broken (not that I would want to see that in real life...but since this art and it represents...)
The article however was a little odd. It had these mixing metaphors that keep switching, back and forth...Tom Veraducci is usually better than that...
It probably was a late decision to run the cover and alter the article accordingly...too bad...the cover alone worked.
