I had an interesting conversation with Zach from Harlingen tonight, which resulted in the following rules to the question of "what constitutes family". We were trying to decide at what point does the distance on the family tree exempt you from having to help a family member move.
The rules:
1. 3 degrees by blood
2. If you say "hi" to a trace-able "family link" in public
3. If they show up the family reunion.
4. The close friend who eats at your home at least a 4 days a week (Uncle Buck).
* The boyfriend/girlfriend who is constantly over is trying to get in the family, but not yet family.
What do you think? Would you add or subtract anything?
